business news in context, analysis with attitude

The Seattle Times reports that a Marysville, Washington, Wal-Mart store has announced that it will add a 77,000-square-foot grocery department by late April, while at the same time Idaho-based discount grocer WinCo Foods plans to open a 92,000-square-foot store nearby in late 2004 or early 2005.

They join Safeway, Albertsons and Haggen in serving the community.
KC's View:
Marysville, just as a matter of information, happens to be the school district that endured the year's longest teacher strike this year. School in Marysville only went into session last Wednesday…and then only because the courts forced the teachers back to work.

That's not really relevant to the conversation, but we just thought it was interesting.
