The BBC reports that faced with staffing turnover problems in its downtown London stores, UK supermarket Tesco plans to build as many as 4,000 homes above its stores in the hope that it can attract employees to live there and stay on with the company.
Negotiations are underway with the government for how many of the homes will be deemed to be "affordable housing," and how Tesco's employees can be given preferential treatment in getting these residences.
