The Chicago Sun-Times reports that an Illinois judge has decided that some 24 different groups will share in $10 million paid my McDonald's to settle a lawsuit charging that it used animal fat in its French fries.
McDonald's was sued because it used beef extracts in french-fry cooking oil during the 1990s, thoroughly offending people who didn’t eat meat but thought they were safe eating fries.
McDonald's agreed to the settlement a year ago, but it has taken this long to figure out how was entitled to the money.
McDonald's will donate $6 million to vegetarian organizations, $2 million to Hindu or Sikh groups and the remaining money to promote understanding of Jewish kosher practices.

- KC's View:
- Not a good day for McDonald's, between this agreement and the mad cow disease revelations.
