  • Procter & Gamble posted third quarter net income of $1.27 billion, compared with $1.04 billion during the same period a year ago. Sales rose 8 percent to $10.66 billion.

    The company said its performance was helped by strong sales of its osteoporosis drug Actonel, Crest toothpaste, and by the weaker dollar.



  • McDonald's Corporation announced that quarterly revenues increased 6% to $3.8 billion, that systemwide sales increased 5% to $10.2 billion, but that US same-store sales were down two percent, while global same store sales were off 3.6 percent.



  • Ingles Markets announced that second quarter net income increased 4.9 percent to $3.5 million, compared to $3.3 million for the same period a year ago. Net sales decreased 0.8 percent to $489.4 million from $493.2 million, while same store sales were off one percent.
