The National Post in Canada reports that Grocery Gateway, the Toronto-based online grocer, is responding to concerns about the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) by forbidding its drivers from entering customers’ homes and by ordering them to wear gloves.
The company sent an email to its customers yesterday informing them of the new policies, and reserves the right to collect payment over the phone or even cancel the order if there are concerns about SARS, which has claimed 10 lives in Canada and more than 80 around the world.

- Interestingly, the SARS-related policies at this point are not visible on the company’s site, so the information clearly is being given to past and existing customers, not to new ones.
