  • Schnuck Markets announced that it will shutter a 68,000-square-foot store in Memphis that it acquired as part of a 12-store purchase it made from Albertsons last June. The company said that the unit simply wasn’t viable, and that it still plans to open three new stores in Memphis next year.

    Schnucks also announced that it is cutting back on hours at 19 of its 75 24-hour stores and at seven 24-hour pharmacies.



  • The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested 16 people in five states and charged them with a $4 million coupon-redemption fraud and money-laundering scheme in which at least some of the money was sent to Palestinian organizations.
