BJ’s Wholesale Club has announced that it will focus on two strategies in 2003 as it gears up for the heightened competition it expects to face.
One approach will be to focus on individual consumers, as opposed to business customers.
The other will be to use gasoline at low prices to bring customers into the stores.

The customer focus seems to be following the Costco model, as opposed to Sam’s approach of focusing on business shoppers.
As for gasoline…well, that just puts even more pressure on the c-stores that BJ’s competes with.
