The Gannett News Service that the Bush administration’s proposal for voluntary ergonomics guidelines for reducing work-related repetitive motion and stress injuries has been criticized by some as being a “a disjointed package of fact sheets without directions for putting the guidelines in place.”
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) held a half-day hearing on the guidelines this week, and has promised to finalize guidelines by the end of the year.

Right or wrong, we suspect that this will become a campaign issue in 2004. It is the kind of issue that Democrats will seize on in order to illustrate that the GOP is anti-labor and pro-big business.
And since the Democrats don’t seem to be able to make any compelling arguments about any issue, this is the kind of low-hanging fruit they’ll be looking for.
