  • Target reported that it earned $277 million in the third quarter ended Nov. 2, compared with $185 million in the same period a year ago. Target's revenues reached $10.2 billion for the quarter, up 9.3 percent from $9.3 billion a year ago, driven by an 11.8 percent revenue increase at the Target discount chain.



  • For the three months ended Sept. 29, Starbucks posted record net earnings of $58.5 million, compared with a profit of $53.2 million for the same period a year ago. Starbucks had record fourth-quarter revenues of $865 million, compared with $689.5 million for the July-September quarter of last year.

    For the fiscal year ended Sept. 29, the company reported a profit of $215.1 million, compared to $181 million the previous fiscal year. Revenues were $3.8 billion, up 26.7 percent from last year's $3 billion.
