Wal-Mart Stores has announced that it will begin to test an online DVD rental system.
Wal-Mart DVD Rentals will allow customers to pay a monthly subscription fee of $18.86, never pay postage or late fees, and have access to more than 12,000 titles -- about 12 times the number of titles carried at a typical local rental store, according to the company. The emphasis will be on new releases and the most popular titles.

We checked on a competitive site called NetFlix.com, where they also advertise more than 12,000 titles – but at about a buck more per month. So, Wal-Mart appears to be doing what it always does…
By the way, NetFlix claims to have more than 700,000 regular customers.
