Reuters reports that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will begin investigating a possible link between acrylamides in fried and baked starchy foods and cancer in people who have eaten such products.
According to reports, the FDA has already tested 150 out of 600 “targeted” foods, including baby food, canned beans, cereals, chocolates, cookies, crackers, French fries, infant formulas, nuts, nut butters, potato chips, and meat.
While acrylamide has been found to cause cancer in animals, its relationship to human cancer has not been determined.
