  • Wal-Mart’s Asda Group in the UK has promoted COO Tony DeNunzio to the newly created roles of president and CEO.

    Deputy COO Richard Baker has been promoted to COO.

    Both men report to Dave Ferguson, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Europe.


  • In Dallas, Wal-Mart Stores has offered to trim the size of a proposed
    supercenter from 218,000 to 206,000 square feet, as it struggles to keep the development on track. However, some local officials still want a greater reduction in size, though Wal-Mart says the real estate is too expensive to cut back any more.

    The Dallas News reports that Wal-Mart cannot build the
    store without a variance because current zoning allows a store of only about 85,000 square feet.
