business news in context, analysis with attitude

  • Michael A. Bozzuto has been named chairman of the board of Bozzuto’s Inc., the Connecticut-based wholesale food distributor. Bozzuto remains as president and CEO of the company. He moves into the chairman’s job following the recent passing of his father, Adam J. Bozzuto.

In addition, Bozzuto’s announced that Mark G. Kindig has joined the company as its Executive Vice President/Finance and Chief Financial Officer, to be “actively involved in the company’s strategic and long-term planning.” Kindig was formerly Director of Finance and Electronic Banking Services for Wegmans Food Markets, Inc.

KC's View:
The fact that Bozzuto’s has named a veteran of Wegmans, one of the great food retailers in the US, to its staff suggests that this is a wholesaler that is very serious about retailing.

Bozzuto’s already has 18 Adams Super Food Stores…it will be interesting to see what the company has in mind.
