Jim Sinegal, president and CEO of Costco, has confirmed that the company’s first Costco Home unit, a 100,000-sq.-ft. focusing on home furnishings, is scheduled to launch near the company's Issaquah, Washington, headquarters in early December.

- Yesterday’s MNB, of course, reported that there is some concern in the financial community about the major warehouse clubs slowing down in terms of sales growth. If indeed that is the case, opening up new formats in related areas -- especially those that hone in on one area carried in a club store -- seems to make a lot of sense.
